PHP Indenting/Formatting - +Haze - Oct 8, 2014

Normally when I code in PHP I use the "code editor" in cPanel File Manager and it has no formatting features so my code is all over the place lol.

So my question is, apart from "PHP beautifier" software around on the net, is there a php IDE that has auto formatting and shit?

Thanks

Real developers don't use hosting with cpanel.
I suggest you check out sublime text or notepad ++

I already use notepad ++ but it doesn't have indenting I think.
And why don't real developers use hosting with cPanel? lol that sounds stupid

Panels are for fags.
Sublime Text is better than Notepad++

You can use vim as well. Once you get used to it, it's great and you will be highly productive.

OP is a noob and can't install vim on windows.

Thanks might download sublime text soon then.

If you need a full feature IDE I suggest you PHPStorm. But if you need a lightweight php editor, I suggest SublimeText

phpDesigner is pretty good too. You should try it! ;)

Word.

By "Word", I don't mean OP should use Microsoft Word for code editing, it simply indicates that I agree with what has been said in the quoted text.

Automatic indents are just a :set autoindent away.

There's even a command for reindenting a messed up file : gg=G IIRC (IIRC not being part of the command, neither is this text (RIP grammar (one more parenthesis and I'd have invented a new Lisp dialect))).

What does the hosting have to do with being a real developer or not?

Sometimes a client might have ordered hosting in advance and you just have to work with it. Doesn't change the developers skill level.

@OP. There are plenty of options. I never use windows, but when I did, I always used notepad++.

You could also check this IDE: http://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/

phpstorm is a piece of shit.
Sublimetext is the best period.

I use Notepad++ for most of the languages that don't have own IDE. I must use VS for VB because it's the best IDE ever made. But not going off-topic, Notepad++ with a custom theme is the best choice, very light weight, and if you enable the auto-helper typing thingy, you will be coding like no other. Don't use cPanel text editor, that's the worst thing that you can code in. I always make sure that the code is as clean as possible, and everything is aligned, and indented properly.

Does notepad++ format code automatically like Visual Stdio does?

Ahh no, not near. If you are used to VisualStudio, you will not find anything similar to the comfort it gives, notepad++ just gives you very very very small amount of that, if you configure it properly, and still it won't even auto-capitalize.
