New Portfolio Website Design - Aired - Oct 16, 2014 Few months old, but this is just a portfolio I had worked on. Posting this now since I will be working on a new one in the upcoming week. Very large image: Spoiler (Click to View) I know there's a lot of white space, but it was intentional. I believe this would provide a more pleasurable viewing experience as opposed to a cramped site. * - Kuzuma - Oct 17, 2014 Hey, I'll give you my feedback because I think you gave some helpful one in the past to me. Remember I'm not flaming you its just my 2 cents on what can be improved. Okay lets start from the top and work the way down. - The logo, its clean, clear and simple. But re-choose the colour of it. Orange doesn't fit in too well. - Me personally I'm not a fan on underline under a navbar title. It wouldn't be necessary anyway as I'm assuming its a 1 page layout and its not a fixed navbar I don't think. So underline isn't necessary nor does it fit in. - The background image should end where the wiggly separator starts. Its distracting to be in the white cloud thingy. - The padding between the "Welcome to my creativ..." and at the end of the portfolio part isn't the same. The portfolio bottom padding has more to it. - About me section looks fine to me. - The contact page is missing the most important part. Contacting via Email. Thats a vital one you haven't added. - Footer looks clean and cool. It would be great that on hover, it shows the white/orange K. Might be a nice effect. Either way, 7/10. Theres room for alot of improvement. Well done. - Kuzuma * - Spl33k3 - Oct 17, 2014 You should get rid of a chunk of the vertical spacing, it makes the design not feel good to scroll through, everything is too big on the eye. * - Aired - Oct 17, 2014 (Oct 17, 2014 08:07 AM)Kuzuma Wrote: Hey, I'll give you my feedback because I think you gave some helpful one in the past to me. Also, I was planning on making the navbar fixed under a white background as they scroll down. - The background image is separate to the image on the hero, but yes I agree. I already fixed that issue on the coded version. - Yeap you're right. Forgot to polish it in the end. I guess I was rushing the design process in order to start coding due to a tight schedule. Thanks for catching that. - Hmm you make a good point, but I was addressing my social networks. They will have a place where they can reach me via email in the contact page. But yes I see where you are coming from, and I will def consider it. - Yeap, that was exactly my intention :) Thank you very much for your feedback! I truly appreciate your time. Will absolutely keep those points in mind for the next revision 🎉🎉 (Oct 17, 2014 10:31 AM)Spl33k3 Wrote: You should get rid of a chunk of the vertical spacing, it makes the design not feel good to scroll through, everything is too big on the eye. Yeah you might be right. I have a bigass monitor so sometimes I overlook those problems. I will try to shrink it down just a little bit, but I still want my portfolio to have the exaggerated white space. Of course, I can always iterate and reduce it if I receive more comments about them. * - Sunkist S0D4 - Oct 17, 2014 You definitely inspire me the most on here, amazing fucking work dude. May I ask how many years of experience do you have? * - Isaac Newton - Oct 17, 2014 Not digging the heading font, Idk why it's in trend lol. Some glyphs are just fucked up. White space is too much for <19" monitors if same in code. Like the hero gradient. * - Wool - Oct 17, 2014 Looks clean and awesome as fuck. Good work on this one. * - Eternal. - Oct 17, 2014 Like the material design of this, the simplicity is kind to my eyes. * - Baghead - Oct 17, 2014 wtf kwak that is not you in the picture you're not white * - 420 Blaze It - Oct 17, 2014 It looks very white, but there should be a border in the background, maybe sky blue. * - Avocado - Oct 17, 2014 I personally hate websites like this, but I can see it took a lot of effort and looks nice. * - Aired - Oct 18, 2014 (Oct 17, 2014 02:32 PM)Sunkist S0D4 Wrote: You definitely inspire me the most on here, amazing fucking work dude. Thanks man. I have 5 years of experience designing in Photoshop, 2 years of experience designing professionally. -- I appreciate the feedback. Thanks everyone. * - Rivalry - Oct 22, 2014 Just found this. How does RMG manage to so perfectly bury anything worth seeing under an avalanche of trash? Anyway It's amazing, firstly. These are just a few things that bothered me: Header font isn't hugely eye-catching. The hero looks a bit weird all around, ngl The way the 'ripples' from the scroll down button cross the text kinda looks odd, I'd fade the circles out before they hit the text The orange in your logo doesn't seem to fit? Idk about this Why is your portfolio called a 'journal'? The green and orange circles in the motif on the 'welcome to my creativity wonderland' part don't seem to sit right on their line; they look like they're 1px out from alignment Your use of colours is absolutely insane as per usual Lotsa white space, which I quite like personally but I know that other people often don't for some reason 'A little quick bio about me' is way too wordy, shrink it down to match the simpler nature of the rest of your design Anyway luvit all |
