.txt File help. - Update - Nov 24, 2014 Hello everyone, Just had a quick question and didn't know if someone knew the answer. I didn't really know where to put this thread so I dropped it here. Sorry if its in the wrong spot! Im trying to make a .txt file in notepad, what im trying to do is be able to copy+pasta a massive list of lets say first names, then I want to be able to copy pasta a list of random last names from another .txt with a colon in the middle Paste 1 Firstname: Paste 2 Firstname: Last name. I didn't know if this was possible and wanted to find out before I start putting in manually. Thanks! * - Fish - Nov 24, 2014 so you have a list one has first name the other has last name? and want to paste both of them down and when you paste a : goes in-between. if thats what your saying I'm pretty sure you need to do it manually. i sought a string splitter would work * - Mr Fox - Nov 24, 2014 You could just write a program in C# that adds the two together. * - Aura - Nov 24, 2014 (Nov 24, 2014 04:53 PM)etc. Wrote: You could just write a program in C# that adds the two together. This. I suggest you to post this thread in the Coding and Programming section. Someone can code you a small application for that really quick. * - Update - Nov 24, 2014 (Nov 24, 2014 04:53 PM)etc. Wrote: You could just write a program in C# that adds the two together. Didn't know i was going to need it coded! * - Aura - Nov 24, 2014 (Nov 24, 2014 04:55 PM)Draenor Wrote: Im not technically savy in C#. Might need to go find someone to do this. Basically, someone will load both text files in two different arrays, then write to a new one, going through both arrays, one by one and formatting the output. Simple as that. * - Tranquility - Nov 24, 2014 Copy/pasta in Excel for each column. Export as txt file with Tab delimiter. There ya go, different columns in a text file, no need for programming if you're looking for a swift simple solution. Can re-import in Excel as described here. * - Update - Nov 24, 2014 (Nov 24, 2014 05:08 PM)Aurа Wrote: Basically, someone will load both text files in two different arrays, then write to a new one, going through both arrays, one by one and formatting the output. Got this resolved in another thread. Thanks so much for the help! |
