Sports World -> Personal Life Forum - Oak - Nov 24, 2014

It's not a big deal, just thought that Sports World would now fit better under the Personal Life forum than The Lounge.

I fail to see how a subforum dedicated to talking about sports is in any way personal.

I would say that sports are entirely personal, isn't that the very definition of a fan?

A majority of these threads, even if not entirely about being a fan, seem pretty personal to me.

Sports are entirely personal imho. I also think it'd fit better there than in The Lounge of all places.

Although I totally understand what you are getting at, the lounge is usually a place for discussion. Therefore sports being sub forum of lounge, is logical as there is discussion about sports. Just my 10 cents.

What.

We have to use the second definition given. Under the first definition almost anything would be considered personal. Did you create some graphic art? Better move all the graphic sections to the personal section.

Now look at the Sports World section. It's all about the professional world. So unless we have some HF members who are in the NBA, NFL, etc. who want to talk about their personal sports related struggles, there's nothing personal about that section.

If you want to talk about how you're performing in sports / how to get better, then that belongs in health wise, but that's the only case I see where sports could be considered personal.

"We have to use the second definition given." Lolwat. Because fuck logic.

My point still stands imo, this is merely a suggestion. I think it'd make more sense under Personal Life to talk about your favorite team, who you think will win the championship, and what kind of stretches are good for playing basketball, etc. The Lounge is a worthy overarching forum too, but that would mean Pet Peeve should go there too, Vices as well. Personal Life exists for a reason, thus Sports World should be relocated.

EDIT: Do I really need to highlight how many times people said "Your?" Or can you make that step on your own? What's an opinion if not your personal opinion?

For great discussions on various subjects and to have some fun relaxed topics you can enter our Lounge. Read the rules in the forums as trolling, spamming, or flaming are not allowed.

I'm sorry, were you incapable of reading the sentence that immediately followed that?

Of course, if you just ignore any argument against you, you will believe that yours still stands.

Personal and professional are opposites.
I've proven that the Sports World is a subforum dedicated to professional sports.
I think it's obvious that the personal section is dedicated to personal things.
Therefore, the Sports World subforum does not belong in the Personal Life forum.

The first definition details that anything can be personal. You can't dismiss a definition just because you don't like it, try that in court bud. You won't get far.

I have sufficiently responded to your arguments from a rational standpoint. Yet you ignore mine. The same could be said to you.

Where does it at all say "Professional?" Anywhere. Please show me. The very information on the subforum is "For sports discussions like football, basketball, MMA, baseball, and hockey we have this forum just for you. Please keep all sports topics here." Are discussions not inherently personal?

You've made your point, I've made mine. Let's not let this degrade into foolish debauchery and part ways amicably.

I personally disagree with this...
The Lounge just seems like the better place since sports are were people chill out and watch you know?

:/

Based on this thread, the Sports World section is no way personal, and some topics that would be posted in there should be posted in other sections.

Woah, you really rustled Sir's jimmies when he brings out 'advanced' vocabulary.

The same thing could then be said for Vices then. Just chill out and toke.

That thread doesn't say anything about it being personal or not personal?

Furthermore:

Personal Life (Click to View)

I would very much say that sports contribute to the identity of individuals, as people follow a specific team and watch sports in a very personal atmosphere. Fights occur over sports, people gamble over sports, people watch sports: all personal things.

The definition was not dismissed 'because I don't like it', it was dismissed because it was too broad.

Why not move the SRPP to 'Personal Life' after all, people are expressing their PERSONAL views on things.

Why not move the Anime section to 'Personal Life' after all, people are expressing their PERSONAL views on anime.

Why not move the Music section to 'Personal Life' after all, people are expressing their PERSONAL views on music.

If we did as you suggest, we'd lose a huge number of vast subforums, and for what? Because there's a personal aspect to something? Guess what. Every poster here except for maybe Motherlode and Vitani is a person, and their posts are going to be personal, but just because that's the case doesn't mean that their posts belong in the personal life section.

Yes. They are inherently personal, hence the need to either:

1) Restrict the definition of personal
2) Move every discussion to the personal life forum.

How about you junk this thread if you have a modicum of respect for yourself.

They indeed could be, but that is not the issue here. Each of those sections have earned their own individual section, while I am merely saying that Sports World would fit better under Personal Life than The Lounge.

Naw. I still think it'd fit better. Thank you for your opinion, though. Your thoughts are very much appreciated.
