[Review] Automated Computer Cleanup-Tron - -Hyperion - Dec 7, 2014 Hey guys it's Hyperion ✌
Today I will be reviewing and giving you my thought on a user created script called Tron. What is Tron? In the developers own words Quote:Tron is a script that "fights for the User"; basically automates a bunch of scanning/disinfection/cleanup tools on a Windows system. I got tired of running these utilities manually and decided to just script the whole thing. I hope this helps other techs and admins. Tron is relatively new and is constantly under going revisions. I will be talking about the latest version 4.2.0 and the functionality it provides. What does Tron do? Tron automates and runs several common programs for you saving you time and then emailing you the logs when done. Here is a list of its stages and what it does. Quote:Stages of Tron: As you can see there are 6 stages(5 if you do not count the manual one) that take between 2 and 8 hours to run depending on the size of hard drive and severity of a cleanup. 99% of these programs are ones I either use on computers or are widely respected. The only area that stands improvement right now is disinfect as I strongly dislike Vipre and JRT/ADWcleaner still have to be run manually. These features will be added in a future version and you can just edit out the programs you do not like. How have I tested Tron? I have used Tron for the past month on about 20 computers and several of my own. I can tell you that it does in fact save me time from running each one manually aside from the last 2 scan with JRT/ADW. Each of these computer have had different problems from messed up boot sectors to rootkits installed on them. Aside from one instance( TDSSkiller problem) it has run smoothly and cleaned each and every PC up fully. Who should use Tron? If you manage a lot of computer or just need to clean up your computer I would recommend this program as it scans in the right order and saves all the logs for you. I am now personally starting to use it on more and more computers I work on. You must be able to follow its instructions and run it in safe-mode with networking only. The only thing I would warn against is in manual tools it does include Combofix which should never be run but by trained users. Aside from that with its high level of customization it is a near perfect tool. 8/10 Where can I get Tron? You can read more about it and download it Here and on GitHub I hope this helps and gives you another tool to use. * - Aura - Dec 7, 2014 Formatting still sucks.
