Unable to do system restore. Looking for Win7 - The Slug - Dec 9, 2014 So I have an old laptop (well it's pretty new, but haven't used it in a while since getting a new one a few months ago) I've installed so much crap on this thing I don't even want to use it without restoring the whole thing to a fresh version of windows. When I tried to do the acer system restore it could only use a restore point dating back 3 months... But I need it to go back like 2 years! Is there an easy way to do this without getting a win7 iso? If not, can someone plz link me to a trusted copy of win7 Thanks in advance! * - Zombie_ - Dec 9, 2014 Here's a website with an official window 7 iso file http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/ * - Aura - Dec 9, 2014 You shouldn't use a "System Restore", but a "Factory Restore/Reset". What is that Acer laptop model ? Will be WAY easier to do a Factory Restore/Reset than installing a fresh, new installation of Windows 7. Also, I can confirm that the .iso in the link above are legitimate. They are official Windows 7 .iso, clean and genuine released by Microsoft. * - The Slug - Dec 9, 2014 (Dec 9, 2014 02:31 PM)Aurа Wrote: You shouldn't use a "System Restore", but a "Factory Restore/Reset". I can't seem to find a 'factory restore' option anywhere! grrr. I did it on my buddies laptop like 3 days ago. He has an acer too... Weird that I can't find the option on this latpop It's a Acer Aspire 7750G-6662 The only 2 options i see is: 1. Use a system image you created earlier to recover your computer 2. Reinstall Windows (requires Windows installation disc) * - Aura - Dec 9, 2014 (Dec 9, 2014 09:08 PM)The Slug Wrote: I can't seem to find a 'factory restore' option anywhere! grrr. Download the right .iso from the link posted above. * - The Slug - Dec 9, 2014 I got the factory restore to work! Unlike my friends acer my options to set it back to the factory reset is only shown if I hit Alt + F10 on startup. I was trying to push 0 before and it only let me try to restore it from a saved image copy dating up to 3 months back. All good now * - Aura - Dec 9, 2014 (Dec 9, 2014 09:17 PM)The Slug Wrote: I got the factory restore to work! Yeah Aspire models requires that manipulation in order to enter in Factory Restore mode. Let me know if the operation completes successfully. * - The Slug - Dec 9, 2014 (Dec 9, 2014 09:19 PM)Aurа Wrote: Yeah Aspire models requires that manipulation in order to enter in Factory Restore mode.
