The Basics of HTML and CSS: Lesson 1 - CodeBinary - Jan 2, 2015 Q: What does HTML stand for? A: Hypter Text Markup Language Q: What does CSS stand for? A: Cascade Style Sheets Q: What is HTML and CSS? A: HTML is used for writing the structure of a website and CSS is used for the colors and styles and stuff like that. Think of someone drawing HTML would be like the stick figure CSS would be the colors and the fancy clothes. Every time you want to write a line in code you need to put it in something called a tag. A tag would look like this: <Insert Text Here> Every time you make a tag you got to close a tag with very few exceptions. To close a tag it would look like this: </Insert Text Here> Now when you close a tag it has to be the same tag is your starting tag. For an example lets make a paragraph tag <p>This is a paragraph</p> Now that you learned what a tag is you should read our next upcoming tutorial which Ill link here when it's made! * - existentialist - Jan 2, 2015 Is this taken directly from here? 😧 http://inspirecoding.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=457 * - CodeBinary - Jan 2, 2015 Yes thats me on inspirecoding I made that thread. * - existentialist - Jan 2, 2015 Ok, cool. Wasn't sure. Just wanted to make sure before you got accused of not giving credit or something. Also, you may want to expand this by A LOT as it's extremely bare bones and doesn't really have much to offer. * - Retaw - Jan 2, 2015 This is SO basic is isn't even necessary imho. * - clark.dll - Jan 3, 2015 (Jan 2, 2015 07:31 PM)SafeT Wrote: This is SO basic is isn't even necessary imho. Oh shut up.. what's basic to you may not be basic to someone who's just starting out. Take that attitude elsewhere. * - redpenguin - Jan 3, 2015 This is terrible.. this isn't even a lesson. Where do I put the '<p>This is a paragraph</p>', do I paste it in google or..? * - NoScript - Jan 3, 2015 This isn't even a tutorial, This is more or less a Q&A thread. |
