[TUT] [ALL RATS] AREN'T GETTING CONNECTIONS? READ THIS [ALL RATS] [TUT] - Khamul - Jan 7, 2015 RAT Troubleshooting guide This guide is simply here for you guys so that there are fewer threads being created like "I'm getting no slaves, what am I doing wrong?". This should also stop the need for you guys paying money for this type of service when you could just troubleshoot for free! Anyway, on with the tutorial. Common Issues people have: 1. Portforwarding 2. DNS Setup 3. Stub 'doesn't work' 4. "I have no idea what I'm doing" Portforwarding There are so many tutorials about this out there, just follow them step by step or the other option (if this doesn't work) is to buy a VPN which allows Portforwarding. A common problem people get is that they forward their port but when they test it on canyouseeme.org it says "connection refused" or "closed". This is because they aren't listening on the port they want to be open: NOT listening: Spoiler (Click to View) LISTENING: Spoiler (Click to View) Also, MAKE SURE YOUR FIREWALL IS DISABLED!! DNS Setup Make sure that you are keeping your IP updated (if you are using a VPN) and that your DNS resolves to the correct IP! Go to tracert.com/resolver and enter you DNS, make sure it comes up with your current IP address! It should look like this: Spoiler (Click to View) Once you get this right, you are ready to carry on! "My Stub does not work" This is the thing that catches out the most people. If you test your stub on yourself with your DNS settings in Sandboxie or otherwise.....IT WILL NOT WORK! (Most of the time, I don't like to generalise but this is the general rule). This is to do with something called the "Loopback address"; which in most cases is set by default to 127.0.0.1 - Some (very few) routers support a feature called NAT Loopback (by default) which means your stub would work on your own PC with your DNS settings. How do you get around this? Send it to someone else and ask them to open it in Sandboxie.....It should work now!! Notes: Make sure you enter your port number correctly, make sure you type in your DNS correctly into the builder. "I have no idea what I'm doing!"
