Hello fellow members of Hackforums! I am writing you up a tutorial on how to install Ubuntu on a Chromebook.
For this tutorial you will need:

[Image: 43a11fa008.png]

Step 1: For Step 1 you will have to boot your Chromebook into Developer Mode. To boot your Chromebook into Developer mode hold down (esc) + (refresh) + the power button. You will get a screen that looks like Spoiler (Click to View) After you have done this it will ask you to press "enter" to proceed. Once you have done this (and wait) you will have to "format" your computer, when you "format" your Chromebook it is all automatic. Once you have completed all of the steps press (ctrl) + D on the screen Spoiler (Click to View) Once you are all done you will be prompted to a screen that wants you too sign-in to your Chromebook; sign in and look at Step 2.

[Image: 43a11fa008.png]

Step 2: Step 2 is almost all automatic. You will need to press (ctrl) + (alt) + T and you will open crosh. Once crosh is opened type
PHP Code

<?php
shell
Once you have opened up the Linux shell type this command
PHP Code

<?php
sudo sh
-e ~/Downloads/crouton -t unity

You will have to wait a decent amount of time for it to install your file. While installing I recommend that you don't do anything and just wait for it to finish.

Once it is done it will ask your for a Username and Password
Note: Your password will not appear but it is being typed so if you type "hackforums" it will be your password.

After you have entered your new credentials you will type the following command:
PHP Code

<?php
sudo startunity

Once you have logged into your Ubuntu OS open Terminal and type these commands:

PHP Code

<?php
sudo apt
-get update
and
PHP Code

<?php
sudo apt
-get upgrade

You now have Ubuntu on your Chromebook.

Extra

To get your apps and other relevant things you need Software Center
to install Software Center run this command:

PHP Code

<?php
sudo apt
-get software-center

This seems like it i for Ubuntu, not Linux in general. Noticed because at the bottom you mentioned Software Center, as far as I know only Ubuntu(Mint used to) have it, and is also not the only or preferred way to install software. Anyways great guide.

This guide was harsh, I started while I was waiting for me MRE Scan to be ready, then I got a remicade infusion. Was a hospital day for me...

Really, you're going to pass this off as 100% yours?; I'm sure if I put your "tutorial" through a search engine i'd find parts of it.
This info has been around on the net for years including on this forum, try coming up with something original.

I made the tutorial, half of the tutorials here you can find freely on the internet.

No, you can use shell which is close but boot your PC into developer mode.
