[Keyboard] Spilled Soda on my keyboard - Bibikins - Jan 16, 2015

So I just spilled soda on my keyboard about two hours ago, cleaned it up as best as I could. Now, When I press 'r' (and a few other keys), two letters will be typed instead of one.
for example
r -> ry

Any ideas what I should do? Or should I just get a new keyboard.

well if you really wanted to go to great lengths you could always pop the keys out and try wiping everything down with a moist washcloth but if not keyboards are like five bucks a pop. Unless of course this is like an insane gaming keyboard then I would definitely carefully pop the keys off and wipe it down

I've already done that, it's a Razer Blackwidow.

damn man, what I would do is find the keys that are having the most problems pop them out as well is the keys surrounding them and thoroughly clean. This would mean going to get some ear cleaners or something like that and just giving it a real thorough whipe down

Try removing all the caps and putting the keyboard in a box of rice.
Let it sit for 24 hours and the rice will suck up all the water/moisture.

This happened to me before and i thought my keyboard was dead as i put it infront of a fan for a couple of hours and certain keys were doing other things. I left it for a week and i was like "Hmmmm, lets see if it works" now and i'm using the keyboard like 1 year later. Give it a bit to dry and do what Viper said to get rid of the moisture, although you may have trouble getting the rice out of the keyboard if it gets in it.

This will do it, but the rice won't take the water, it's the little chinese people who will drink it.

Just replace the keyboard.

You're going to spend way too much time on trying to clean this one and the clean is not gaurneteed.

It works pretty well, some keys, like the = key are stuck very badly.

I'm still going to order a new one, it's been two years since I got this keyboard.

I have a Logitec MK320 Set I bought in 2010. The logitec logo on the mouse is wore off.

Things needed
~canned air
~towel
~empty spray bottle
~isoprophyl alcohol

Honestly you want to use isoprophyl alcohol in a cheap spray bottle, thoroughly spray it and then let it soak facing down over a towel yo let it drain, then use some canned air to blow out any excess fluid just to be sure.

That should help you if you're still looking to clean it

Try opening it and drying it with a hair dryer or spirit.
