Is there a way to make BruteForce work faster? (Hydra - Linux) - Wallak - Feb 11, 2015 I'm testing many bruteforce options for the past few months , but only one thing can't let me rest quietly. The speed ! i mean when i use hydra bruteforce , the speed is kinda ok , but after i was reading about other people speed and how fast they crack passwords , this is just wierd. I tried to max-up the graphic settings on the virtual machine for the kali-linux , but the speed didn't change... the only thing i found to speed alittle bit the BF is -t 128 . is there any other way to speed up the brute force attack ? for example , if it takes me 10 seconds do to 100 passwords , is it possible to make it try for example , uhmm .. 500 passwords at 10 seconds instead? is it even possible to triple it or even higher to 3000 for example? thanks :) * - CtrlAltDelete - Feb 11, 2015 I am running Kali on VMWare with a laptop and I can achieve a speed of 255pw/s really easily on Hydra. Maybe considering getting some better hardware? It definitely helps. -CtrlAD * - Benign - Feb 11, 2015 Just to be clear, hydra does not use gpu, so changing your graphics settings will not help. CPU and network speed is your throttle. As you have mentioned, increasing threads is one way of speeding up. Remember some protocols will be a lot slower to respond to password attempts - RDP cracking and ssh cracking speeds should not be compared. * - How bout using your brain - Feb 11, 2015 if you try to bruteforce something remote, then the bottleneck is not your computer but the network. So basically what you wanna do is up the number of threads to get more concurrent connections * - Wallak - Feb 11, 2015 I already used -t 128 it did help alitle bit but i still consider it slow .. uhm , i am attacking http-post-form website , does it change anything? and i still didn't get what ACTUALLY can be done to improve the speed of the bruteforce , only buying new computer will help? cause i know mine not THAT healthy computer , but its stlil basic i mean.. still looking for help :(((((( i couldn't get any answers |
