Skype is a really nice application that is used by many people in the world. The sad thing about it is, it can be resolved, giving out your IP address, which is a big part of your anonymity in the cyber world. This really simple tutorial will be teaching you how to hide your IP address on Skype.

1. Getting a Fresh New IP
There are many ways of getting yourself a fresh new IP. You can do this by simply spoofing your router mac address or resetting your router or you can even contact your ISP and they will do it in a second for you. Before changing your IP, be sure you have exited Skype. After you got your new IP, do not open Skype!


2. Finding a Nice Proxy Server
Now, its time we get our fake IP address which we will be using for our skype, aka proxy. (If you already have a proxy host:port address, skip to part 3) Lets start searching for our proxy. Hidemyass has a nice proxy list here:

Choose any proxy you like. Prefer faster ones! 🙂

Now, what you have to mind is the IP Address, Port and Type


3. Making Our Registry
Now, we need to make a simple registry for Skype and attach it so our proxy will be connected. Create a new file and name it 'whatever.reg':

After you have your registry file, right click it, click Edit. Paste in the following 'code':

Edit ProxySetting to: "HTTP" | "HTTPS" | "SOCKS5" or whatever etc.
Edit ProxyAddress to: "your_proxy_host:port" (For e.g: 123.45.67.89:123)
Don't touch other settings, save your file and close it. Now just attach it to your Skype by double clicking it.


4. Finishing Touches
At last, run Skype! Now your Skype is connected to the Proxy Server. Now lets make it a bit secure by going on: Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection and enable "Allow direct connections to your contacts only".
