MIPS32 simulation - severos - Feb 14, 2015 I'm going to start studying assemply language at university, we're going to be using MIPS32 so I'd like to ask couple questions about it: note that I'm running Ubuntu14.04 x64bit -What IDE is best for use from your experience? -What's the best simulator? I'd like to try testing code in a safe environment so I don't screw something up as I've done such stuff before 🤫 Also, any tips you can offer me for faster learning?? Thanks for your time. * - gotoel - Mar 4, 2015 Very late on this, I am also taking an Assembly course this semester and we use SPIM ( http://spimsimulator.sourceforge.net/ ) and it has worked great. Your professor may want you to check the "bare machine" and un-check the "Load exception handler" settings for at least the first half of the course. * - DrakkarLevi - Apr 8, 2015 I'd say if your'e using Windows, stick with MARS. SPIM can be a bit confusing / hard to set up, especially as a beginner. * - LevelUp - Apr 8, 2015 SPIM is missing a couple of instructions but it shouldn't really matter if you're only starting out. |
