Help with portforwarding with bittorrent - peeledbanana - Mar 23, 2015

Hi

i have seen several tutorials on how to portforward with bittorrent.
They all say just change the port to 1234.
That just seems to easy for me. Maybe i am understanding it wrong, if it does what i think, which is hide my ip address that would be great.
Tell me if i misunderstood the term protforwarding and what it does.
