How to increase website traffic? - hackscamslasher - Apr 7, 2015

Hello,

Long story short i own a website and hired a professional SEO service. I'm top3 on 5 keywords that all get around 1m searches per year. My website is around a month old. I'm only getting around 1k visitors per day and wondering whats a good way to get more traffic

SEO is a slow process, your website is showing good progress if you are getting 1k per day.
If you can give the url, i can take a look.

As above, SEO is slow. What have you done so far?

SEO Is slow! That's correct, but the work you do now can really speed it up. It seems like you're making great progress, in the grand scheme of things, and are laying yourself out a good foundation. However, now is really when you want to be building on that foundation with Positive on page and off page SEO. Building Content on your site, distributing links, building your social profiles. All these being crammed into the early stages of your site, will really make your site management much easier later on. Rather than trying to manage the site and build on your SEO. (This is often when people let SEO slide a bit, and find their sites on the downward slope, despite good progress.)

If you want, I would be more than happy to carry out an Audit, see what can be improved and if required carry out some of my services for you. Send me a message with a link to your site and I'll be more than happy to help!

I don't know about slow. I've made a site #1 on Google in 8 hours before. It depends on the keywords really. If you are at the top of the page for 5 keywords, while you're link building for the pages you already have on top of Google, start making new pages and SEO those to the top of Google as well. Find variations of keywords and phrases to SEO and write content for them. Typically when I did a keyword and competition analysis, I would typically try to find around 100 words for the customer to look through and decide. I don't do a lot of SEO these days because I've had a difficult time getting paid for a lot of my work in the past. Spend 200 hours on something and get stiffed. Sucks.

There are some factors in choosing keywords. Cost or the ammount of work required are the biggest. Local keywords are the easiest. If you live in a particular city and you want to show up when somebody looks up [$keyword && $city] This is really easy to do.

If you are going for that keyword that gets 32 million searches per month you might have some stiff competition. But if you are going for 32 keywords that get a million searches, you might actually have less work for 32 keywords than for one. And the visitorship is the same. What I mean is if you need 5 million or so backlinks for the big keywords but you only need 50,000 or 10,000 or even 1500 for the smaller keywords you are going to do a lot less work for them. 1500 backlinks you can probably do in one day by yourself or get a fiverr deal for some social bookmarking or directory submissions.

In my experience each link produces an average of one human visitor per month. Some will produces thousands, some none at all but the principal for me is one visitor per month per link. So if you want a million visitors per month get a million links. And with properly optimized content, tags, markup, link architecture on your site you will see some search ranking as a biproduct of link building for traffic so long as you use optimized anchor texts and you don't just link dump every FFA page.

Don't worry about getting listed on DMOZ because you pretty much have to know a mod to get a link there. Don't bother submitting to yahoo because for the $300 per year you get like 50 visitors and the link pages usually don't have the weight to justify the price.

I hope that helps a little.

Are you receiving 1,000 organic users per day? Or just 1,000 hits per day?

* - Mythic - Apr 9, 2015

I recommend you social channels as well. Be active everywhere, share your links on facebook, Twitter, Google+ and so on. This may also have influence on your Ranking and visitor behaviour.

Yours sincerly,

I could get you some traffic to try and boost you up, it's all from a traffic exchange so you won't get sales or clicks, but you'll get tons of hits real cheap.

Thats a good question! And I would say that if you are looking to have a good website for the long term, make sure that you create organic traffic, not point on paying for just hits.
