April 21 and Google Mobile - Omniscient - Apr 8, 2015 https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/ How many Webmasters here have prepared for the April 21 deadline for mobile-friendly sites for Google? In case you're not aware.... http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2015/02/finding-more-mobile-friendly-search.html Quote:Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices. Looks like it's time to make some SEO changes for mobile-friendly readiness on HF too. I guess it's overdue. I have some ideas hopefully I can pull off. * - brian188246 - Apr 8, 2015 Good to see that HF will become more mobile friendly, should help a lot of the members here. It seems to be already showing HF as mobile friendly though? http://prntscr.com/6rapvg * - hugsyou - Apr 8, 2015 Was thinking about this today. HF is over due for it. * - sonex - Apr 8, 2015 (Apr 8, 2015 12:33 PM)brian188246 Wrote: Good to see that HF will become more mobile friendly, should help a lot of the members here. Was about to post this. Same here though. * - SIM-1676753 - Apr 8, 2015 It's good to hear that HF might become mobile friendly. * - Krew - Apr 8, 2015 clicks this thread hf suddenly doesnt need sideways scrolling on my phone Cant wait for mobile support. * - grady - Apr 8, 2015 I dont have amobile device, so I'm pretty apatehtic towards any changes coming. Pretty interesting that Google is pushing this forward though, they're really looking for progress. * - TheNaked - Apr 8, 2015 Amazing finally I can actually maybe use my phone on HF. This would be really really good. * - Omniscient - Apr 8, 2015 Quote:It seems to be already showing HF as mobile friendly though? Front page is not and I haven't tested all pages but having front page more mobile friendly is a goal. I'll test each of the major pages that Google would index and work on them as best I can. I can't perform miracles but I can make adjustments. But this thread isn't just about HF. This is the Webmaster forum here and who has a site that might be effected by these changes? * - Nutar - Apr 8, 2015 I actually saw this post earlier and made sure that every page of my website was mobile-friendly. I'm guessing that Google's decision to de-rank sites that are not mobile-friendly, will cause a lot of websites to become mobile friendly. * - Omniscient - Apr 8, 2015 Quote: I'm guessing that Google's decision to de-rank sites that are not mobile-friendly, will cause a lot of websites to become mobile friendly. They are not penalizing sites that are not mobile friendly. Google also has different search results for mobile. So if you're on your phone you might get more mobile friendly results than if you're on a desktop. * - Balloon - Apr 8, 2015 (Apr 8, 2015 01:41 PM)Omniscient Wrote: They are not penalizing sites that are not mobile friendly. Actually just awared all my clients last night about this. Really hoping this algorithm update doesn't cause too much havoc in the serps. Also it's not that they aren't penalizing you, you just won't rank as well. * - DLT. - Apr 8, 2015 By any chance are you tweaking the mobile view now? Everything looks out of place, or it might be just at my end. EDIT: nevermind just read your front page post. Anyway this is great news, it defiently suites me since I'm always on my phone browsing sites. * - Shxtdown - Apr 8, 2015 I'm enthusiastic about the changes, it will make HF so much easier to browse whilst on my phone. However will there be any way to revert back to the original viewing of HF rather than the mobile version? * - Omniscient - Apr 8, 2015 (Apr 8, 2015 03:09 PM)Chаos Wrote: I'm enthusiastic about the changes, it will make HF so much easier to browse whilst on my phone. I assume if you disable your user-agent or alter it for regular viewing it might make a difference. Most settings are via your device and browser more than the website. |
