Full Disk Encryption - OS X ?! - 3yyy - Apr 18, 2015

Hey guys

I am searching and searching, sadly TrueCrypt nor VeraCrypt provide full disk encryption for OS X.

I just found only found two programms who allegedly provide it FileFault and PGPFullDiskencryption.

FileFault is from a US company so they have to have backdoors.. and also when I "encrypt" with FileFault it provides me a recovery key with only arround 20-25 charakter with only Numbers and only big Letters oO- so my password wich had 35 charakters with UperCase/LowerCase and special charakter gets obsolete. -.-'

And PGPFullDiskencryption is from a university who write if you lost your password they can help you to recover your data, so wich also seemingly means they have "backdoor".

Anyone an alernative?

greets 3yyy

OS X has a built-in encryption software called File Vault. You can find it under Apple Symbol --> System Preferences --> Security --> FileVault Tab.

FileVault is full disk encryption and is pretty secure. The recovery key it gives you is ~20 characters long, which is more than enough. Out of curiosity, why are you so worried about encryption? Honestly, unless you're trying to hide some really shady shit and are worried you'll get arrested, you don't really need encryption.

What if someone stole his Mac or he lost it ? He may have sensitive documents and info that someone could fuck him over with. Although if someone had enough knowledge, they could bypass it.
