Ask yourself if you enjoy prison really quick and then you'll know.
White hat is clearly the best, but if you're looking to make a lot of money fast then the other options are available at your own risk.

Ok, here's a question. However you answer it, it depends on white hat or black hat.
If you found a major bug on Google .com and you had the power to destroy the website, would you warn them about the bug so they can fix it and save Google .com, or would you exploit the bug and destroy Google .com?

It all depends how much $$ is involved.
But I would mostly classify my self as a white/grey(ish).

I'll give you a basic summary of what each one does and the benefits of them.
White Hat - These are your professional 'cyber security' experts who work for companies. These hackers typically post their vulnerabilities and do not do it for fame, but for legal money.
Grey Hat - Borderline hackers. They will report vulnerabilities but also harvest some data they like. This type can result in prison time if abused.
Black Hat - The fun kind. These are the 'criminals' you hear about on the news. They want fame and money, doing anything illegal.
What kind would I suggest? Grey. Black will get you caught if abused and white is boring.
