Ruby On Rails Starter - Maya Badmash - May 13, 2015 hey guys, i am all new to ruby i know how to develop rails web apps for development but i wanna know how to build scripts in rails scripts in sense like shells. will be hapy if someone could guide me through this stuff . :) * - Operation Valkyrie - May 18, 2015 You wouldn't use Rails for scripts, you would just use a regular .rb file and write your script inside there. * - severos - May 20, 2015 Rails is framework for web developing that's build using Ruby. If you want to use normal scripts you'll be going for normal Ruby not Rails. I use Ruby for simple scripts when I'm messing around, but my current time is mostly devoted to learning Sinatra with all it's adds (activerecord mainly), once I'm done with Sinatra I'll be moving to using Ruby for sysadmin jobs (which I have no idea about right now), think it's where you'll heavily use Ruby scripts to interact with the system. * - c0rr0s1v3 - May 20, 2015 Actually is possible to use a rails application embedded into a program/script. This is called rails-engine. Lot of gem's use a rails engine to achieve all kind all tasks, and get advantage of rails components like active-records, you can look at "metasploit-data-models" gem which is part of the MSF, and i use in mys scripts to get access to msf models.
