Ruby Certification - hankaf - Jun 8, 2015 Hey everyone, So I'm not sure how much this would help me in life, but I'm trying to get a Ruby certification in the hopes that extra knowledge in different languages would catch the eyes of an employer. I'll take anything that makes my resume look nicer. It would really help if you guys can support the cause. ht tp://ww w.gofundme.co m/wha24sg (Remove spaces) Also, if there are better certification programs our there that you know of, please share. It doesn't have to be Ruby. All that I ask is that its something I can acquire while attending college. * - Haxalot - Jun 8, 2015 Certificates aren't usually the best way to tell an employer you know a language. Creating projects in that language and then open sourcing them on a website like GitHub would be a far better way at proving your proficiency with that language. This will help you to build up a nice portfolio of projects under your name which can be invaluable to employers and your online image. Also, contributing to other open source projects on sites like GitHub also looks pretty good. It shows that not only are you enthusiastic about programming, but that you also have the skills required to jump into a project and begin making a positive contribution to it (something that you'll be expected to do at the work place). |
