My Recommendations for Good Starter Anime - Wirt - Jun 19, 2015 To all the people thinking about starting to watch anime, or even people who like anime and haven't seen these, these are my recommendations: Clannad - Feels train anime, filled with joy and sadness. About a young boy who's name is Tomoya Okasaki and how he gets through school life with a nonsupporting alcoholic father. Angel Beats! - Only around 12 episodes or so, it's very short, but it's very good. It's about a student who "dies" and is sent to a place that is not yet heaven, but looks like their school. At the beginning he joins up with a young lady named "Yuri" who invites him to join the "not-yet-dead battlefront". Code Geass - it's about a young man named Lelouch. In the beginning Japan gets taken over by the Holy Empire of Britiannia. Lelouch has growing hatred towards the empire of Britiannia, even though he is of Britannian descent and Lelouch wishes to change the world for the good, with a secret power of Geass that was given to him by a mystical lady named CC. Death-Note - Death Note is about a young man, Light Yagami, who was a very intelligent school boy. He drifted while staring out of the window one day in class and saw a notebook fall from the sky. When he opens it up and checks it out, it changed his life forever. Psychological thriller. Psycho-Pass - Psycho-Pass is set in the future where people's mental state is based upon a "Psycho-Pass" that can predict future psychopaths and violence, which is all run by the computerized Cibil System which all the law enforcement relies on. The story is about a young lady named Akane who got a high score on her Cibil exam, granting her the ability to virtually pick any job she wants, however she picked being a law enforcement officer. That choice forever changed he life in more ways than one. Sort of a psychological thriller. Hataraku Maou-sama! (The Devil is a Part-Timer!) - Devil King Sadao is only one step away from conquering the world when he is beaten by Hero Emilia and forced to drift to the other world: modern-day Tokyo. As "conquering the world" are the only skills the Devil King possesses—and are obviously unnecessary in his new situation—he must work as a freeter to pay for his living expenses! -- This is supposed to be a comedy, and it does a damn good job at it too. You will be laughing through the whole anime. Full-Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - In this world there exist alchemists, people who study and perform the art of alchemical transmutation—to manipulate objects and transform one object into another. They are bounded by the basic law of alchemy: in order to gain something you have to sacrifice something of the same value. The main character is the famous alchemist Edward Elric—also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist—who almost lost his little brother, Alphonse, in an alchemical accident. Edward managed to attach his brother's soul to a large suit of armor. While he did manage to save his brother's life, he paid the terrible price of his limbs. To get back what they've lost, the brothers embark on a journey to find the Philosopher's Stone that is said to amplify the powers of an alchemist enormously; however, on the way, they start uncovering a conspiracy that could endanger the entire nation, and they realize the misfortunes brought upon by the Philosopher's Stone. Be warned though, it is a long anime. Took me a little while. Trigun - Vash the Stampede is a wanted man with a habit of turning entire frontier towns into rubble. The price on his head is a fortune, and his path of destruction reaches across the arid wastelands of a desert planet. Unfortunately, most encounters with the spiky-haired gunslinger don't end well for the bounty hunters who catch up with him; someone almost always gets hurt—and it's never Vash. Oddly enough, for such an infamous fugitive, there's no proof that he's ever taken a life. In fact, he's a pacifist with a doughnut obsession who's more doofus than desperado. There's a whole lot more to him than his reputation lets on—Vash the Stampede definitely ain't your typical outlaw. A throw-back to the late 90's anime style, this anime is definitely worth watching! I will be adding more later. Just trying to help people out. :) * - Mac Marvin - Jun 19, 2015 I would not recommend Angel Beats as it is quite bad in some departments, like the story is pretty incomplete. The ones i would recommend is Attack on titan - Most people will already have heard of this one, but I highly recommend it simply because it's not heavy on the "standard" anime cliches that turn a lot of new people off, allowing for an easy start if you will, haha Fullmetal Alchemist - One of the most popular shows recently, so I'll let the fame speak for itself. Parasyte - More of a "mature" show that is very good and makes you think about humanity and stuff, if you're a faggot at least * - Wirt - Jun 19, 2015 (Jun 19, 2015 01:15 PM)Mazarin Wrote: I would not recommend Angel Beats as it is quite bad in some departments, like the story is pretty incomplete. Attack on Titan is really really bad. The only one I could recommend is Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The original Full Metal sucks. Angel Beats! is a good one to start off with, as in if you just got into anime because it's simple. * - Mac Marvin - Jun 19, 2015 (Jun 19, 2015 01:16 PM)ℒitecoin Wrote: Attack on Titan is really really bad. Can you explain your thoughts behind why you think Attack on Titan is bad? I'm pretty picky myself and i cannot find much fault with it. As with FMA, it sucks if you compare it to brotherhood but if you view it as it's own show it's really good. And angel beats is worse than both of those, especially for beginners because it is a pretty bad "lovestory" with an afterlife/school setting. So it is nothing special. * - Duyere - Jun 19, 2015 The first two anime suggested are a bit out of flavor for me, but I would definitely recommend the next three suggested. I would also advise reading through: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=1688773 Quite a few MUST WATCH anime on that list and it's categorized by genre. * - Wirt - Jun 19, 2015 (Jun 19, 2015 01:22 PM)Egith_yee Wrote: The first two are a bit out of flavor for me, but I would definitely recommend the next three. The next three what? You didn't finish. * - Nagisa Furukawa - Jun 19, 2015 I would have to agree with Clannad, just be ready for a trip on the feels train * - Duyere - Jun 19, 2015 (Jun 19, 2015 01:24 PM)ℒitecoin Wrote: The next three what? The story seems so bland and there doesn't seem to be much character development. Angel Beats! wasn't really meant to be a love story in my opinion. I think it was meant for a moral lesson to tell people to be content with what they have in life. Don't be mad or dissatisfied because it's the only one you're going to get, so make the most of it. You can't afford to be mad, sad, or depressed for long periods of time. 👍 * - Mac Marvin - Jun 19, 2015 (Jun 19, 2015 01:31 PM)ℒitecoin Wrote: The story seems so bland and there doesn't seem to be much character development. It has an interesting concept that got well executed and the characters develop a bit throughout the show. I guess some people won't really notice because it's really slight, mainly because the story hasn't progressed very far. The only real complaint I have with the show is that the pacing is pretty damn slow. It's not perfect in any way except maybe the soundtrack. But it's still a pretty good show and definitely not bland in any way. Well that's just my opinion anyway * - Lyralei - Jun 19, 2015 One Piece is the true starting anime. Be ready for the grind bois. * - Wirt - Jun 19, 2015 (Jun 19, 2015 05:32 PM)Lyralei Wrote: One Piece is the true starting anime. Be ready for the grind bois. One Piece is terrible. One Piece is pretty fun actually, at least if you don't put too much thought into it * - spidum - Jun 19, 2015 Hey thanks for all this info guys. I've been meaning to try to at least give anime a try and now I think I will. I've only seen one (Gun X Sword) and I really liked it. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it already. * - selinux - Jun 19, 2015 (Jun 19, 2015 05:32 PM)Lyralei Wrote: One Piece is the true starting anime.
