Any tips on how to avoid awful browser redirects? - datguy.dev - Jun 21, 2015

Greetings,
So this is a request for advanced methods on how to avoid awful browser ads.

I'm not talking about ads that are embedded pointing over to Amazon or hot chicks that want to date me. But the shit - pop ups and redirects with the dialog where you must confirm or terminate the browser. For instance, Primewire.ag has a redirect for common links on the site. Press say 'Movies,' a new tab opens, meanwhile the old one is redirected to some awful site.

We all know how to block pop ups and common browser plugins such as no script, ad block, and WOT. But these don't catch the redirect most likely cause of the 'shit site' being unlisted.

I'm curious if anyone has successfully prevented these sort of redirects and how you did it.

Short of replies. Don't tell me all you guys just deal with them too!?

If you have a method for a specific browser, it maybe worth switching.

Firefox, click the "Open Menu" button, which has three horizontal lines. Click the "Options" button in the panel that opens. Click the "Advanced" button and then the "General" tab. In the Accessibility section, check the "Warn Me When Websites Try to Redirect or Reload the Page" box. Click "OK."

Firefox also has a few add-ons that can stop browser redirects. They are NoRedirect, Redirect Bypasser and Redirect Remover.

To prevent Chrome from being redirected to another site without your knowledge, click the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button. The button has three horizontal lines on it. Click "Settings." Click the "Show Advanced Settings" link to display more setting options. In the Privacy section, click "Enable Phishing and Malware Protection." Close the browser window. Google now displays a warning if the browser is trying to redirect you.

Thanks for the tips sk8er!

My preferred default browser is Chrome. Sadly, your suggestion did not work. Also worth noting that feature was disabled previously because it hung up the browser all the time. Do not need it.
