What language should I use for my social media app? - Racerx246 - Jul 2, 2015

I'm in a typical conundrum for newbies to code. I have all the right design ideas for a social media/network app, but I don't know what language would be easiest to make it with. Please feel free to give me advice or point me in the direction of someome who could help me. Thanks guys!

Why was this posted in the Java section?

Moved to general coding

Sorry I'm new to forums and I'm still learning how to use them

Well it depends actually. If you have a mac, I would recommend using swift, other than that just use cpp.

Depends on what kind of application. Desktop apps can be made with a variety of programming languages:
  • Java
  • VB.NET
  • C#
  • C++
  • Delphi
  • And the list goes on

For webapplications you could use:
  • Java web
  • HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, SQL
  • .NET web
  • And the list goes on and on

Then there's also a question of operating system compatibility. Some apps cannot run on a Mac and some apps cannot run on a Windows computer so it really just depends on your clients.

Why exactly did you list SQL under web strictly? Since when is SQL exclusively web based? 😕

Ontopic: It really depends on your coding experience OP. If you're brand new to coding, then maybe making a social media app would not be the best start to start learning coding.
Also, picking a language would depend on the purpose and functionality of the app itself. Giving out a few hints on how your application would work would make it easier for us to give you some advice.
