[HDD] Just how close to death is my HDD? :( - Bӏue - Jul 25, 2015

So I have a hard drive in my PC I got many many years ago. Now because of its age I don't assume it has much life left in it so I store my steam games on it, so If it does fail I don't physically lose anything. But I noticed now my games are crashing more and more often, Disk Check is common on startup for that hard drive.

Its only a caution on here but in terms of performance It does feel like its on its way out. Can anyone help me on this?

TOTAL ON TIME: 2054 days = 5 years 8 months. LOL

Don't put disk check on startup. Doing it to much when there is no actual need only makes things degrade faster.

There is no really a way to tell when. But, at some point files will start getting corrupted.

Your problem is not when the drive fails. But, the fact that files might get corrupted and there is no really way to control that. Unless you run checksum on all files periodically.
