Zpanel domain creation - lino08 - Aug 13, 2015 Hello, I have purchased a Vps and I have successfully installed zpanel and now I'm trying to setup a website. I'm not very familiar with DNS and such things and I wonder if it is enough to "register" a domain in the domain panel and create a DNS record for it and wait enough time for it to spread or if it is necessary to register a domain on a domain registrar and than point it to zpanel. Is it possible to register as many domains as I want this way? Then why should I pay for a domain registrar? Most of the guides I've read on the internet simply create a domain, a DNS record for it and it magically works, but I've been waiting for almost a day and still when I type the address in the URL bar it returns me an error saying that it couldn't be resolved. I have edited my host files to point to my server thus bypassing the DNS thing and I correctly see the expected welcome page... How long will it take before I can see the website normally? Thank you for your help and patience * - Squito - Aug 13, 2015 Your domain should have come with DNS services. If not, look for Namecheap FreeDNS. You need to set an "A record" to your VPS' IP. After that uninstall zpanel which has many known vulnerabilities that probably going to be abused. Instead either use Ajenti or learn to manage your VPS manually (it's not as hard as it sounds). * - Nipsey Hussle - Aug 13, 2015 (Aug 13, 2015 03:07 PM)Squito Wrote: Your domain should have come with DNS services. Also it supports Apache now, not just nginx. I prefer handling things manually, so I can organize things and handle security related things the way I want to. * - lino08 - Aug 14, 2015 thank you^^ if only I could give +rep I would |
