Do you think that Anime is better for children than western cartoons? - IpSiety - Aug 17, 2015

I can say that I've learned a lot more life lessons and real life info from anime than I have from western cartoons. Developmentally, do you think they are better for children?

how about no cartoons and just give the kid a book.

Both have have shows that would be great for children and not so great.

Well, yeah, cartoons here in America all follow the same track. Meaning the animation looks generally the same, and they all seem to be goofy and humorous.

Anime can range from being anything from goofy and humorous to serious and suspenseful, mixed in with different animating styles and no limitations as to what they can do, because unlike Western cartoons, anime is not specifically targeted at children or young teens.

You have to remember tho, a lot of anime that is genuinely good isn't really good for children. Western cartoons are simple for a reason, they're meant for children. While anime a lot of times is not meant for children and thus not a good choice for them.

Obvious exceptions of course.

With all the ecchi stuff they make now a days.
Only a select few are worth watching.
As for children, I still think anime is better than Western cartoons.

i think ur a weaboo who is obsessed with anime and sees it as the only positive source of anything in life.

You know what's better than Anime or Western Cartoons?

Reading a book

Maybe you're forgetting that kids these days have quicker access to iphones & ipad before they even get a book.

Maybe you're forgetting that books these days have digital releases as well. c;

I think anime would be better than western cartoons.
I have no explanation to back up my point, I guess it's just one of those things.

How about instead of coming into a thread with a useless reply, you use your English skills to the best of your ability and attempt to answer a question with a legitimate response.

That is the prime difference I believe that makes anime just a bit better because it slowly exposes real life ideas into young adolescents.

ouch, here
I didn't pick one because I don't think one is better than the other, both are often really exaggerated so it's hard to get a serious message from them. Kids usually won't opt for a deep and meaningful show when there's a fun show on a different channel. Anything I've gotten from anime was in seinen shows, not from kids or shounen, so if they were watching seinen shows then sure anime > western cartoons.

Sometimes I think so, and then I watch Shimoneta, or Excel Saga, or etc.

* - Crya - Aug 17, 2015

I would like to think so, but only towards a certain extent. Certain anime have a different range of target audience. Showing a kid something like Lucky Star is a lot different then showing Kill La Kill. Kids can get a lot more from anime then something like adventure time.

Depends. I am a true fan of Simpsons and I believe you can learn a lot of life lessons there. But not for a child, honestly Simpsons gives you hints on depression, marriage, bullying and although initially in the episode they do the wrong thing, in the end homer always tells Marge he loves her and fixes it all up. Anime in my opinion is higher quality and more exciting and entertaining. Life lessons, maybe not, a lot of anime is sexualised, even Naruto and innocent ones like that, it's really hard to tell but if you don't give a shit about what your kids what or what kids watch, it's all good for them. Simpsons tells you that being an alcoholic makes you more likely to be a deadbeat dad, being a know it all gets you bullied l, you can't control and smother everyone into submission and sometimes you just aren't as cool as you think you are. Anime tells you that if you want to be you can be a badass motherfucker, kill some bitches, save the fucking world on a daily basis and really just be somebody. You can have a pretty interesting sex life and high school girls are the hottest. All information I think is useful. Watch it all! No one is better than the other, it's all quality programming. Let them watch it and make sure they watch enough Hentai and porn to avoid becoming a weaboo and move on ?
