G3258 + overclockable motherboard[budget] - puff puff - Aug 18, 2015
Is their any motherboard around 75$ MAX on amazon that would support overclocking? specifically for the G3258.
Pretty sure at stock the Pentium G3220 has the same performance, which atm I think I will be getting. Pretty convinced on getting the unlocked version, just their is no motherboard cheap enough for my liking.
btw, on pcpartpicker, it says that you might need a bios update before using haswell refresh CPUs. Whats that mean?

may need a bios update means the bios on the motherboard may need to be updated to work with the CPU properly.

Wait, so your saying H81 motherboards can be overclocked? Im guessing with a bios update then.

yes don't forget that generation of motherboard is different from the current H97 boards..
also it shouldn't the bios update to enable overclocking, but it may for the CPU overall.

B85 boards can also overclock if you want front USB 3.0.

Right now im deciding if im going with the unlocked one or the older one which cannot be overclocked.
Also, out of curiosity, how can I get a bios update if the CPU would not work? Just in case I need to update it for the G3258.

agreed, adding a 200hp shot of nitrous to a stock honda probably wont go so well, a 5hp shot maybe....
