Networking & Network security | Null Community program

NETWORKING & SECURITY TUTORING

On behalf of Null I'm offering a networking and network security program free of charge to the wider community.
It will be taught over the course of 11-12 seperate scheduled group sessions using Skype, join.me and a series of private resources that will be made available to the students.
The aim of this program is to give you a beginner to intermediate level of knowledge in the various areas of networking covered below, however, keen students are welcome to stay behind 'after class' to discuss any other topics that interest them - provided my schedule allows for it.

This program will be limited to 15 places and I'm looking for enthusiastic and intelligent members with a keen interest in learning about networking to take part. You must be prepared to put some time in to independent study outside of the sessions, somewhere in the range of 1-2 hours per week dependent on the subject area. You must also try your best to attend all sessions, failure to do so may result in being removed from the program so please refrain from applying if you know your schedule is going to be busy - sorry.

TOPICS COVERED

OSI, TCP/IP stack.

LAN terminology, topologies, standards and addressing. [2 sessions]

Networking applications, devices and configuration.

Mathematical techniques in networking, address design and wider Internet addressing schemes. [2 sessions]

Routing platforms, principles, protocols and configuration. Internetworking. [2 sessions]

Operating systems.

Network security. [3 sessions]

There is no set structure for the application, just show me that you're going to be a hard working and reliable student. Account stature will play no part in my decision of who to accept on to the program, however if you are a valuable and generous member who gives back to the community it definitely wont hurt your chances. I intend to run this course several times, so even if you don't get in the first time it is likely that you will be invited to a subsequent run-through at some point in the future.

Please note, this program is launched under Null's name as a way of sharing group knowledge and engaging with the community and is in no way affiliated with the Null student program.
Students should have no expectation of being added to the Null group as a result of participating.
