Computer Repair Shop Management System - Blixuk - Aug 29, 2015 Hello; I'm currently in the process of starting my own computer repair shop and I was thinking about building a system to manage everything. Like booking computers in, tracking their progress and checking them out; also creating a report and receipt. Managing the inventory and sales (POS). Maybe make it so it can monitor the test computers state among other things. But I was also thinking if there was a way to make it integrate with a webpage for when on a call out job, you can update the process and even produce a receipt from the phone that could be printed or emailed to the client. I was also thinking if I could get web integration, build a web ticket system so people can place a ticket form the web page. These are just some of the idea's, so could this be done or would it be best to build in all web based? Thanks * - Marwix - Aug 29, 2015 You could try to create your app meanwhile making it support all platforms including web. * - Blixuk - Aug 29, 2015 I'm going to give it a go. I know what I need to do and I can do most if not all of it minus the web stuff. I'll just have to think of a work around. Maybe a separate web app that can then later be updated on the main software. More hassle I know... Maybe something over email. I'll give it a try and let you guys know it it goes. I'm building the first version now, doing the Databases. I build a basic version, make sure it works then make it look nice. The only issue I think I will have is handling some of the Data interactions and connections. Like linking a contact/customer to a ticket or drop off. Maybe each can be stored in their own table and then maybe a contact/customer folder with an xml file that holds the connections? * - NiceLabel - Aug 29, 2015 (Aug 29, 2015 12:18 PM)Blixuk Wrote: Hello; I'm currently in the process of starting my own computer repair shop and I was thinking about building a system to manage everything. At my work we use something like this. We have fields to fill out once we give or receive a work station(WS) or notebook(NB). Some of the fields are "Asset tag #", "NB #","WS #" and after we write down all those we have a field for the person or department that it will go to. You can also add in a default in voice and make it so the invoice will copy in the name of the person within where ever it is going or whom it's going to. Separate the receipt database from the others and just connect them. We built this at my work with MS access and SQL. If you don't know how those work, it's fairly simple. We do this with all of our IT related assets, but once you have this down you can add almost anything to it and keep track of them for past, present or future needs. As for the web accessible part, we have a third party that made something like this for us so I couldn't tell you much about that. * - yloeybht - Aug 30, 2015 (Aug 29, 2015 12:18 PM)Blixuk Wrote: Hello; I'm currently in the process of starting my own computer repair shop and I was thinking about building a system to manage everything. Yes, you can do this and it's already been done. There's software already out there that does this but it costs thousands of dollars. |
