Looking for a nice C++ IDE to code in - PhoenixHF - Oct 20, 2015

Hey.
So I'm looking to devote myself to coding in C++, since that's the fundamental thing which we'll be learning this year in class.
The IDE which we work in looks messy, just plain ugly. I'd like to find a possibly black themed IDE of newer release date, which can be highly configured because I have my own preferences when it comes to coding.

Thanks in advance.

Use visual studio with the black theme that's what I use and it looks amazing.

Visual Studio is the way to go

I use Codeblocks with visual studio syntax coloring and I find it decent. There are also several black themes for it.

Just curious, can you compile unmanaged C++ in visual studio?

Of course, it is often the preferred native C++ IDE for Windows.

I agree with the rest, Visual Studio is the way to go.

I'm using visual studio. We're using CodeBlocks in class and I absolutely hate it. Also because CodeBlocks can't find a compiler for me to use. I just have a lot of trouble with it.

Codeblocks works fine for me. However I don't have much experience with visual studio.

You can essentially turn a text editor like Vim into an IDE through plugins, and if you know how to use gdb properly, then there is your debugger. Otherwise you can just use it for code editing, and do other things with other tools of your choice. Visual Studio has a lot of useful features, but that doesn't come without a cost; I find it to be fairly slow at times, and I hardly have any extensions.

Here's an example of my vim workspace

I was working on a freelancing project at the time.

Same situation here mate, CodeBlocks really looks ugly to me :D

Is there any reason you can't use Microsoft Visual Studio?

None. I just installed it and it looks way better than CodeBlocks.
I'm enjoying it thus far.

I would stick with that if you don't like Code::Blocks.

Dev looks clean to me but I use CodeBlocks because my senpai _Stoner uses it

Visual Studio is amazing.
There's a free version of it called community edition.
