How can I protect my ip from being resolved and are there any other threats on skype?

Download a VPN. This can be free if you don't care about logs and only IP protection. Another method is looking for proxies. Make sure you allow direct connection to contacts only so people outside your friends list can't resolve you.
The only other threats you face is getting tricked into clicking / downloading something I believe.
