Hey, I really hate anime (although you can watch what ever you enjoy, no problems with that) and I am wondering what makes it better in comparison to other TV shows/movies?

It's not really anything it is just some people prefer the art styles the fight scenes it can vary between anything.

The stories.
The stories in anime are stories that couldn't be done (well) with actors and western animation just dosent have these stories.
The writing style is also just different in general.

Its just that anime gives you options , There is a anime present for every age and type of person .
Its much complex and has the same uniqueness as that of a tv show or anything.
Well . Its about individual preference Regarding Anime , For me , Tv shows and Anime , Both are awesome.
You see , Tv shows like Flash and arrows , Having Sci-fi elements become Hits .... And in anime , there is tons of sci-fi present that cant be used in Tv shows, You see graphics Prob. and shit.

Well, in addition to what everyone said: I find the time skips to be one of anime's unique attributes. You can't do that with real shows. (not talking about two years time skips)
Also I love to watch drawings talk and react xD

Well I would actually agree to manny of the comments above and also state that there are points where
this medium of art excell for example the feeling of hopelessness from the Attack on Titan world. All thanks to a term called "reallity suspensions".
that is easier to prtray in animated shows(western cartoons aswell).
Or the plotwist that you get from some series for example full metal alchemist, you start watching it and your àlike:
"Damn, I love this fantasy series" than you reach the end an you're like: " OMG OMG OMG it's not fantasy it's actually sci-fi!!!"
And also there are manny things anime can do mainly because Japan is not "engaged" with any religion
so they can portray lesbian/gay love incests and such(this does not mean they aprove it, but it it a form of art and therfore that way shall remain) japanese kids aren't that stupid to try flyn' just cause they seen it on a show(this happened atleast 3 times that I read about and god knows how manny other times... ).
Black Lagoon is a great Seinen(mained for adults) it's pretty short and kinda tries to keep it real to a certain point, but if youlike action movies watch that and you'll see why we like it.
There are so manny that you'll deffinetelly find atleast one you like(not that you have too though).

The plot. I couldn't give a shit less if it was animated or not. It just happens that anime has a ton of great stories. Most of the shit on TV now is boring and lacks depth.

Try Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider. I don't really have an idea about your prefs so I can't tell, but try it. It's that type of anime that forces you to love it even more.

When it comes to shows, anime has a legit genre spectrum. Every western show is action, crime/cop/mystery, or comedy- all slice of life. When it comes to cartoons, they are clearly marketed towards children and it's really annoying, thus I can't see myself watching those shows. I've never heard of western shows or cartoons in the romance, drama (that's not fucking cops), tragedy (that's not fucking game of thrones), etc. that are actually good. Plus, anime storylines manage to make me cry sometimes although I feel like I'm becoming super numb to it all.
Also anime has some dank waifu materials.
