What coding language experience is most looked for? - Batcard - Nov 24, 2015 1.) What is the most looked for (getting a job as a freelancer per se) programming language? It might be C++, but i dont really know. 2.)Does it depend on what needs to be programmed? +) Can you programme anything in any language? Thanks * - +Haze - Nov 24, 2015 I think right now, Mobile and web developers are most sought for. * - Batcard - Nov 24, 2015 (Nov 24, 2015 04:07 PM)+Haze Wrote: I think right now, Mobile and web developers are most sought for. So, Java would fit these, right? * - Scy7e - Nov 25, 2015 It doesn't matter which language you pick. Just start with something, stick with it and become a pro with it. After that you'll be able to pick up any language you want - they all work pretty much the same way, they just have different syntax. Programming language is just a tool that you use to do your work, some languages are better for a specific task and some are worse. * - biscuit deluxe - Nov 25, 2015 Lots of companies look for Java, not sure on the specifics though. * - ItsUzi - Nov 25, 2015 (Nov 25, 2015 02:04 AM)Scy7e Wrote: It doesn't matter which language you pick. There are alot of programming languages each fit for certain tasks some aren't the best option. Your best option would be to learn what you like get better at it and you're sure to find a job. Just have a target platform. If you're doing Web Development (frontend/backend) Learn some frontend and backend technologies. If you're doing desktop development, focus on that. If you're doing mobile, concentrate on that. * - JIM NASIUM'S GYMNASIUM - Nov 26, 2015 JavaScript developers are in extremely high demand in the software industry. I would recommend starting there, either with server-side JavaScript (Node), or client-side (Angular or React). * - g4143 - Nov 26, 2015 (Nov 24, 2015 03:49 PM)RobertB Wrote: 1.) If you are a rookie starting out then I would grab any popular programming language and start there. C#, Java, (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP), Ruby, Python, VB.Net. It will take you 5 years of programming and studying before you have skills that you can present to any serious programming employer. * - Cathal - Nov 27, 2015 As mentioned above, it's all about developing a programming mindset, not learning a language. To be honest these days chances you may well end up using a closed language developed in-house. * - Ayahuasca - Nov 27, 2015 Java for sure. Learning web related languages as well would be a definite plus. HTML and CSS isn't difficult to learn whatsoever. It's kind of just a more complicated BBCode, if you want to think of it that way. * - lithuaniа - Nov 28, 2015 Java, Node.js or Python is what I would suggest. Although a lot of people seem to not like Java, and would suggest that you learn another JVM language, but that doesn't stop the fact that it is use in everything form hedge funds to websites, not so much Desktop, but it never was. I would suggest Java as it is used for Android, which is massive and can certainly be used for freelance. |
