Scammer Reputations - Omniscient - Dec 9, 2015

It's very important that you read and fully understand our policy concerning scammer reputations given to members.

This is our Reputation Help Doc. Please read all of it along with this thread.

Often members participate in Deal Dispute threads and take a side or agree the member was scammed. Agreeing member was scammed does not allow you to give them a scammer reputation. You might ask why this is the policy and it's simple. You were not scammed. You were not part of the deal. You cannot 100% verify claims made by members.

So the policy we have in place does not allow just anyone to call someone a scammer in a reputation. And that does include making an inference they are a scammer. Reading the official Help Docs gives you examples.

If you left someone an invalid scammer reputation I suggest you immediately change it. Go to your Given Reputation page and review all the negative reps you've given.

If abuse does continue it's likely that we will stop allowing members to leave custom comments in all reputations and create canned (previously written) comments.

Thank you.

It'd be hilarious if we had canned comments to choose from.

It'd be like Club Penugin, safety chat

Thanks for making it clear boy.

A lot of accounts closure and repfucks have already been seen for this. Its the time people take it seriously.

* - Elegant - Dec 9, 2015

Thank you for clarifying this. Idiotic members would all gang rep a user for being a "scammer" without being part of the "scam".

I agree. Flaming on a deal dispute thread and leaving negative "scammer" reputation on someone regarding a deal that you had no part in is childish. I think we all can tell that Omni is getting pretty tired of it.

Oh God, time to update like 20 reps.

I was rep fucked for this one rule once and I learned my lesson since then and have never left such a reputation again.

I'm hoping this new policy will prevent situations like yours. Where ignorance of the policy led to drastic action against an account.

Thankyou for introducing this. Lots of members are getting gang-repped just coz the defendant has more friends to support him. I am sure this policy will not only help curbing such issues but will also help to get rid of menaces that aren't supposed to be on here at HF. Thanks Again!

How am I meant to remove the 0's I've given?
I can't see who I've given them too.
