BIOS wont let me overclock - nick_electro - Dec 22, 2015

soo im stuck, with the 2.8Ghz since bios wont let me go over that.

i've already update my bios to the latest version that i found in asus website but,
still the cpu multiplier wont go over x8.5 which is 2.8 Ghz.

as you can see the ratio is right now in AUTO mode but tha max it goes is 8.5

You won't be able to overclock. why? because neither the cpu nor the mobo are designed to overclock 🤦‍♂

^this lol

You dont have an OCing mobo or cpu bro

XEON E5440 it is very overcloable. i've seen it going over 4ghz on the web and youtube.
one thing that i doubt though is the motherboard.

Yeah that Xeon is overclockable but I don't believe the motherboard is, I can look up more when I get home, I'm not super familiar with the chipset.

Call me silly but have you tried changing the ratio manually? Setting it on auto will only let it mad at factory clocks...

looks like a 771 to 775 mod....

Capable or not, its not even worth it.
Even if you OC it by like 35% you won't even notice it.

What about FSB overclock?

That BIOS clearly presents no options for FSB multiplier or BCLK frequencies to tweak.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vR8fjB3kW8 I think that is OP motherboard and he overclocked his cpu via FSB. Even though it was an auto overclock.
