[INFO] Drone Safety | Registration | First Flight | & More!! - Green Goblin - Dec 30, 2015

The holidays are here, many people have gotten drones, and are concerned about the new law in place. Lucky, your friend Green Goblin will teach you how to stay safe, and stay out of trouble with your new drone🤗

1. Drone Registration
If your drone weighs more than .55 Lbs, you must register it with the government. This is not a punishment, its simply a way for the government to be able to give each drone its on identity so in the case of a crash, or a pilot pursuing an illegal flight, we will learn more about illegal flights later. Registering your drone is very simple, go to the FFA Website and click register now near the bottom, follow the instructions, and enter your information. Once completed you will get a little card, you can print this card and attach it to your drone.

2. General Flight Rules

Your drone is now registered, but before our pre-flight checklist, we need to make sure we are safe to fly. Before anything, make sure you're NOT within 5 miles of an airport. If you are, like me, you must call the airport and inform them before every flight. When you are in the air, make sure you are less than a mile away from your controller, and make sure you are below 400 feet. Commercial aircraft flies at roughly 600 feet. Be aware of your surroundings, take note of power lines, trees, etc. When in doubt, fly up! After securing your flying area, you are ready to fly!

3. Pre-Flight Checklist
You have gone over the rules, you've registered your drone, now you're ready to fly! Place your drone on a safe area, and begin compass calibration, there's a good tutorial right here. After calibrating, make sure your battery is above 40%, and your blades are tightened, and everything on your drone is secure. You are now ready to take off!

4. Take-off

You have completed everything, and you are ready to fly your drone. Make sure you have a GPS signal, and youre calibrated. Arm your drone with your controller. You can find out how to do this by reading the manual, youtube, or pming me! After arming, hit the throttle and hover about 5 feet up fly right, left, forward, behind, and test all controls. After hovering for a few minutes, you are safe to go. get high enough so you are above trees, and power lines (make sure you are under 400 feet), and enjoy your flight. Keep an eye on your battery, and voltage.

Congrats! you've completed your first drone flight. Make sure to keep your drone safe, and do maintenance as needed. If you don't have a drone, feel free to look at this thread!

That's why everyone must be careful and fly in places they're familiar with. When I first started flying the same thing happened to me, except only my houses power was cut off

Great information, especially since you're giving away a drone.
