Stop the Obsession with Trust Scan - Mr Kewl - Jan 2, 2016 Hello all. Trust Scan we know its a very good feature, it was implemented to reduce the scams and bad deals on HF as it would give you necessary statistics to see if a person can/should be dealt with? How? By checking:
These are some tools, which will actually give you a good statistical insight on should a member be dealt with or not. But from what I've observed most of the people use it for a different purpose and its in Lounge. If a new member posts a thread everyone goes berserk and we see posts like Quote:"OmgZZ!! IP MATCH WID 1 ODER PERSON!!! Quote:"OMZZ U IS MULTIIII" Quote:"SUM1 PLEASE CHECK HIS TRUSTSCAN" Everyone goes in a super mod mode and just wants to accuse new members of being multis whether they are or not. Note: Just because someone's IP might match to another user its not necessary that they might be ban evading/multi accounting or breaking rules. Its a very common thing happens easily with Public Wifi/Mobile network or for w/e reasons. Imho you should just chill and enjoy the site and let the staff/admin deal with the multis etc. We'll end it with a quote. However, for a new member, I truly think it's a fair thing to say they are a multi, if they match other IPs. Especially if they give it away, which most do by their posting etiquette. * - rapidfire08 - Jan 2, 2016 Yea okay whatever. It just seems cocky. * - King Cin - Jan 2, 2016 Unless a thread like this gets stickied idiots will just keep playing mini mod with their ability to trust scan. * - Ahri - Jan 2, 2016 Just like idiots who lose access to their account due to 2FA people will still act like mini admins. * - Zexo - Jan 2, 2016 Ya way too many people use trust scan to mini mod the shit out of new members. * - Grammar Rays - Jan 2, 2016 Members should be banned from putting BLAH BLAH has 2 matching IPs and also banned from PM'ing staff using trust scan as proof. Trust Scan should be a feature users use themselves, and not spam all over the forum. * - Cammy - Jan 2, 2016 And why do you think we have this stereotype? * - Who Soup - Jan 2, 2016 This definitely needed to be said; thank you for making this. * - Windows95 - Jan 2, 2016 Omg, OP dosent trust trust scan, do a trust scan on OP! * - Brendan - Jan 2, 2016 It's not like they're doing any harm. If a user doesn't trust another based on their trust scan, then they don't. * - Doodlegod - Jan 2, 2016 THANK YOU! I heard I have 1 or 2 matching IPs on my account, I explained one in a thread (friend signed up), and now I miss out on tons of deals because people accuse me. * - Spooky White - Jan 2, 2016 Thanks for the thread, looks nice lol. Anyways I'm addicted to trust scan myself. #MAGICFLAKES MOD MODE * - lithuaniа - Jan 2, 2016 (Jan 2, 2016 02:58 PM)Ah Muzen Cab Wrote: It's latest IP matching another user's latest IP. So technically you can match another users IP from yours changing, but that would mean they have not logged on since. If two active users have the same IP then what you are saying cannot be the case. I realised that, so I deleted my post - I didn't know it had to be the latest IP address. * - BLURRYFΛCE - Jan 2, 2016 I'm trying to think of a way the trust scan could tell whether the IP is home or cell based without giving out the ISP name, but I can't come up with anything. |
