Locking Username Changes Suggestion [OMNI PLEASE READ!} - K!ngGFX - Jan 5, 2016 I personally don't agree but that is only because I have not first handedly witnessed the the reason this is being put into play. I would like to add a second suggestion, which is to require an email confimation to change a username rather than locking it out completely. This is because I know that myself and many others really appreciate the ability to change usernames... Please let me know * - Gwop - Jan 5, 2016 i fully and honestly agree with this and dont understand why this rule is comign into effect * - Flurry - Jan 5, 2016 What if the email is what's compromised? * - K!ngGFX - Jan 5, 2016 if someone knows your email login... then your fucked either way. plus in order to change your email... you have to know the password for your HF account. * - Shadyy - Jan 5, 2016 I thought in his thread he stated that it would only lock you from changing your username for 1 week. Correct me if I'm wrong though. * - K!ngGFX - Jan 5, 2016 (Jan 5, 2016 08:22 PM)Shadyy Wrote: I thought in his thread he stated that it would only lock you from changing your username for 1 week. Please let me know I think that you did not read the part the Omniscient say "locking the username change for one week" * - ๖ۣۜEnlightened - Jan 6, 2016 I think the idea is good to protect theft...though probably a bit to exaggerated. Simply disable the feature for x amount of time if IP changes, is a good idea. * - Armada - Jan 7, 2016 Its a 1 week lock out, with the possibility of maybe optional perm lockout if the user elects for that. (Member suggestion) The logic behind Omnis consideration is sound. 1 week should give the original account holder ample time to address the account problem. This also prevents the account jacker from changing names to mimic or clone other more trusted user names to scam. * - Mr. Robot - Jan 7, 2016 And once again the thread is cleared up before I get to reply. Good job HF community! glad to see nobody flaming about his misread mistake. |
