SandBoxie

This tutorial is divided in 5 parts:
1. Introducing Sandboxie
2. Benefits of the Isolated Sandbox
3. How to use it
4. Protect against stealers that can bypass SandBoxie
5. Is SandBoxie clean ?

1. Introducing Sandboxie

Sandboxie runs your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer.

Here is a little picture on how SandBoxie works.

As you can see in the picture #2, the malware go into the yellow box, in this case a protected space in your computer unlike the picture #2, wich the malware attack Windows and Program Files.

2. Benefits of the Isolated Sandbox
  • Secure Web Browsing: Running your Web browser under the protection of Sandboxie means that all malicious software downloaded by the browser is trapped in the sandbox and can be discarded trivially.

  • Enhanced Privacy: Browsing history, cookies, and cached temporary files collected while Web browsing stay in the sandbox and don't leak into Windows.

  • Secure E-mail: Viruses and other malicious software that might be hiding in your email can't break out of the sandbox and can't infect your real system.

  • Windows Stays Lean: Prevent wear-and-tear in Windows by installing software into an isolated sandbox.

3. How to use it

> Find the file you think is nasty for your system (Virus ect)
> Right click on it one time
> Click on "Run SandBoxed"
Here a picture:

(The picture is in french sorry.)

The program is now running in a protected area of your system.

4. Protect against stealers that can bypass SandBoxie

Stealer can bypass SandBoxie, it's true.
Yes it is, but hopefully these little line of code will help us.

Go to Sandbox > Default Box > Sandbox settings > Resource Access> File Access > Blocked Access > Edit/Add
and copy paste the following lines(Click on 'Add' then add one line then click on Apply and do the same things for the 3 line of the code.)

Code
%Local AppData%\Mozilla\
%AppData%\Mozilla\
\Device\Mup\

When you are done adding every thing, click on "Apply" and then "Ok"
(It will only protect Mozilla Fire Fox)

5. Is SandBoxie clean ?
Yes it is at 100%.

SandBoxie is certified clean by :

You might want to add a bit about anti-sandboxie, so people know that if it wont run in sandboxie, you shouldn't run it normally.

Thanks for the tut!!

Question? What do you think about kaspersky's built-in sandboxing. Can it compare to Sandboxie?
