I dont care how shitty the OS is, what OS runs best using minimal hardware resources? - mcfaker - Jan 10, 2016 Can anyone suggest me an OS which runs on minimal hardware resources meaning CPU, RAM , ... PS: Ive never used another OS than windows xp, vista & 7. Im willing to use a very old OS if it meets requirements. However I dont know if these other operating systems are able to run FireFox, its extensions & .exe files? Mega OS noob needs help! Thanks in advance! * - Mastery - Jan 10, 2016 A revision of Linux is your best bet. It's extremely lightweight and still has access to all the big applications you're used to. I believe windows os is the only one that will run .exe files, however. * - ShadowRealm - Jan 10, 2016 windows XP use very minimal resources... you can even make the layout look like windows 95 and it will use even less lol.. since you're asking about an OS that uses very minimal resources...I will assume you're mostly using it to browse the internet. Microsoft still updates Windows XP!!! and so does firefox supports XP service pack 2 * - ThisDudeIsBest - Jan 10, 2016 Chromium OS, Elementary OS, Ubuntu, Linux Mint * - FinnTheHuman - Jan 10, 2016 I suggest some version linux. I have Kali Linux installed on a small USB drive that I can boot right into. * - SIM-1589588 - Jan 10, 2016 Try http://lubuntu.net it's good but if you need a really small os, you can try browserlinux or damnsmalllinux but both are pretty old (2008-2009). * - Vellichor - Jan 10, 2016 http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ * - Sta.ze - Jan 10, 2016 (Jan 10, 2016 02:21 PM)Mastery Wrote: A revision of Linux is your best bet. You can run .exe's in linux with ./file I would use Arch linux |
