Suggestion - Brahmā™ - Jan 11, 2016

I read what Omni has mentioned in his thread about suggestions he will not accept.

I am aware that my suggestion falls into the section#1 of his post wherein he has mentioned that suggestions related to rules won't be accepted. I however felt compelled to create this thread after spotting a recent issue with an HF member. His account was closed because the person who gifted him an award decided to charge-back. I can understand how frustrating and time-consuming it must be for Omni to fight such chargebacks and I am sure he must have lost money too in certain cases. But I am afraid too, as I won two awards in separate contests and I don't know if they were paid for through BTC or PayPal.

To avoid a situation where in a member gets closed and omni gets more headache for the mistake of someone else, why not make it mandatory to use BTC ONLY for contest section? Or the least we could do is to make it mandatory to mention the Currency that will be used to make a transaction to reward the winner. I see no issues in implementation of this as most of the HF members do not hold legit PP and prefer to make payments for Up-gradation and Awards through BTC.

Apologies in advance, if I made a mistake in creating this thread. Peace !

I agree, not to be vain but people shouldn't be gifting awards only to charge them back a week later. A BTC only rule would = real contests without having to worry about getting screwed over.

Good suggestion. I never considered that possibility. I will not take part in contests till this issue is fixed.

Why not just make it so you can only pay awards for others with BTC?

I do support this suggestion.

Although this is a more reliable solution it would require editing and/or adding code.
But I suppose Omni would do that if this suggestion really will make a significant difference.

Although accepting crypto only would be a guaranteed transaction, if I am not mistaken Omni made a post about this not long ago stating that the number of times gift awards have been charged back so minimal that its just not enough of a concern to change. (Think he mentioned its only happened maybe 5-6 times total?)

I am sure you will change your views if you put yourself in the shoes of person who got RK'ed and closed (his account access has been restored now). Imagine how would you feel after getting RK'ed and account closure for a mistake that you never did? I feel every member is a valuable asset to this forum (not talking about scammers and LQ shit) and doesn't deserves such a treatment for a mistake of someone else. That being said, I also understand Omni's headache as well. But since there is an issue at hand (even though it's less in numbers), I believe it needs to be resolved. In my opinion it doesn't matters how big of an issue is, what matters is how swiftly all the issues are dealt with to achieve perfection. Peace !!

I support this suggestion. True as fuck.

I support this suggestion. I'm not sure how often something like this happens, but it would for sure suck to get your account closed because someone chargebacked a gift they gave you.

Correct. It's very very rare. Even more rare I take action on the person who was granted to award unless I have evidence they are a ban evader or directly involved in some shenanigans.

The person OP refers to was a very rare situation and I worked it out for him. He has his account again.
