Explain "Keylogging", "Rats" and "Databases" to a beginner. - ape x - Jan 18, 2016

Hello brethren. I am dipping my toes through the portal to the computer realm. I am a complete beginner so I don't know meanings of many terms or concepts. If you could take a minute could you break down the purpose, strengths/weaknesses, tips/advices and examples of how the 3 topics mentioned in thread subject would be used.

thank you very much, my bad about asking something so broad that's probably been addressed before but I truly did take a long while looking about but I never came across a explanation that begins at the root of it all.

Keylogging- This is when you set up a .exe and depending on the keylogger you can get passwords out of their programs and have them sent to your email, also you can have their typed in "keys" sent to your E-Mail, hence the "keylogger"
RATs- This is when you use a "Remote Admin. Tool", and you have to portfoward, etc. But it has more benefits then a Keylogger, so basically a keylogger evolved. With this you can view their monitor, and on some RATs you can even move the "slaves" (infected person's) mouse and make it basically your own computer, but not physical.
Database- A place on the domain that has all the usernames and passwords and that type of stuff saved. I dont know much about DBs, also Databases can be compliations on this Forum of threads, such as "Database of passwords", a huge amount of passwords to usernames, etc.

Keylogging - When you hack a PC using a keylogger (they open your .exe) and you gain access of their keystrokes and I think saved passwords too.
RAT - Remote Administration Tool. Similar to keylogging, the victim has to open your .exe but RAT offers much more than keylogging. You can see the victim through his/her webcam, play games with your victim etc. It can also do everything a keylogger does. But it's harder to set-up.
Database - As the word itself says, a place where there is a lot of data stored. A base. You could find various stuff in databases including server information, usernames, passwords, emails etc. So basically the Database of Facebook contains facebook accounts (emails), number phones, passwords and much more.

Basic:

Keylogging - every key you press is logged in a text file.
RAT - a program that grants a computer complete control over another computer.
Database - names, addresses, usernames, passwords, etc, all in a table.

Advanced:

Google is your new best friend.
