Macbook or nah? - wanbetaaler - Jan 20, 2016

I am a web developer/programmer/designer and want a convenient system to work on..
Should i go for a macbook pro/air?

To be honest, it wouldn't be worth it for those tasks. You could literally do those on a Pi. No need to throw away $2500, when your not even maxing your current machine.

I bought my Mac because I needed it for editing videos.

like i said i am a designer as well that means i heavily use photoshop c4d and other photographical editors and i edit video's as well now i am using my notebook Asus n750jk 17" but it is to big..... and the screen is not that nice..

Forget the Macbook Air for this task.

I personally bought a Macbook Pro recently and it's really great. It's light, the autonomy is awesome and the screen is ... wow. The only problem was the price, but I paid 1300€ for a MBP 13" 2015, and it's totally worth it. :)

Would not do it if I was you.

Go for the pro over the air if you do decide to go with Apple.

You can find systems that can handle all the tasks you require and more for the price of a Macbook air/pro. Consider the ThinkPad W series, the professional Dell XPS series, or the Elite series by HP.

I went to college for Web design / graphic design and used a macbook pro the whole time. I now have a webdesign job, and I recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 3. They both work very similar, and the lenovo was more than half the price. On the lenovo, its also touch screen and you are able to use a stylist. This way you can even draw in photoshop and illustrator.

tl:dr
Had both Macbook and Lenovo Yoga 3, both do the same exact thing.

I own a macbook and it really is amazing; its fast, lightweight, thin and has never failed me. But, it costs a lot of money and you can basicly get the same results with a laptop/computer half the price. So if you're tight on money, don't get a mac.

Professionalism stand point - Apple products will always win.
I'd go for a Pro if I had to get one, otherwise I'll just use a different brand laptop.

I'm currently rocking my custom desktop with a HP laptop on the side.
