Anyone else watches dubbed anime? - ẞlueSkies - Jan 24, 2016

Im not some hardcore anime fan, I watched
  • Naruto

  • Death Note

  • Attack on Titan

  • Dragon Ball

  • A bit of Fairy Tail

  • A bit of Bleach

  • a bit of one piece

And i watched all of them dubbed... I cba to read the subtitles and the Japanese squeaky voices annoy me xD
I like to watch it when I'm about to go to sleep on my tablet in bed. Sometimes i fall asleep in the middle of an episode.

I dont watch dubbed anime, only subbed.

I watch dub as well :) I normally watch anime while working so I can't really pay attention to read subtitles

Naruto and DB are probably the most common dubbed. Also the only ones I've watched dubbed.

dont like dubbed, makes it sound so fake, especially the moans.

subs all day, or hire an Asian.

Update: Okay maybe DBZ and Pokemon but they were originally publicized in English.

* - Varane - Jan 24, 2016

The only dubbed anime i watched was Naruto and Dragon Ball Z and half of Code Geass dubbed. I personally think subbed is was better.

well its also about "Getting used to" .

i watch subs though but completed naruto as dubbed.

I like the one peice dub a lot (Zoro and Sanji's voices were dubbed very well imho), I liked the Naruto dub as well but the "believe it" line pissed me off so much.

* - Kiyoshi - Jan 24, 2016

No, I can't really watch dubbed. It just makes the series so weird and somewhat bad imo.
Sub all day.

* - elemein - Jan 24, 2016

You literally can't watch Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt subbed and expect anywhere near the quality of dubbed. Probably the only anime where I say the dubbed is 999x better.

Watching a dubbed episodes of the Dragon Ball franchise is comprehensible, I mean have you heard the character's voices subbed? Jesus. My ears bleed after.
Anywho, you watched dubbed Naruto? Ew. Subbed >

* - Esdese - Jan 24, 2016

I mainly watch subbed, but there's some anime that I actually prefer dubbed. For example, Highshcool DxD, HOTD, and Infinite Stratos.

* - Frankey - Jan 24, 2016

Sometimes I watch Sub and Sometimes DUB. When I'm on small screen DUB. Big screen SUB.

Most of the time I prefer dubbed over subbed. With that said, I also know the downsides to watching dubbed anime. More so than I would like to admit. The biggest downside being that sometimes the specials, extra episodes, extra seasons, and movies all don't receive dubs. The other biggest downside being that lots of the time the English voice-overs don't resemble/capture the feeling you get from from characters you might have enjoyed in the subbed version. Example: Low pitch male character's voice in the subbed version sounds more medium pitched in the dubbed version, which could make a huge difference when capturing character traits. Very rarely do dubbed versions fully capture what the subbed version entails. And very rarely will a dubbed version sound better. Only few anime like Dragon Ball Z and other 90's/early 2000's classics made that evident.

My reason for choosing dubbed over subbed is simply because English is my native language though. I would much prefer having ANYTHING be done in my native language, even if nowadays it sounds like complete and utter garbage because of the same recycled voice actors.
