Is it allowed to open a thread paying (PP) for someone to purchase an alt coin award?
I'm unclear due to recent XC events.

I don't believe that it is allowed anymore. I had to go to another user through IM to buy my DGC award. If you'd like, I can refer you to him.

I don't see any rules forbidding it, after all, you're never given any Bitcoin, you're simply buying a product (i.e. an award gifted to you) and not Bitcoin as far as my understanding goes.

Its a grey area, I think paying someone else to buy you award should be fine if you're not exchanging and buying the award yourself.

Yes, but all payments have to be with verified information. Any Ub3r payments must first be approved by Omniscient. All recipients of ub3r must also be approved. There is a form entry for a link to a users profile if you're gifting an upgrade.
