How to remove backgrounds of images in 2 minutes easily! (even images with shadows) - Zeke - Feb 22, 2016

In this tutorial, we are going to learn how to remove backgrounds on images very fast and easily using an action script.

What you need -
1) Action Script
2) Photoshop CS3 and higher. (tested on CS6)
3) Brain.
4) Motivation to learn.

There are hundreds of ways to isolate an object or remove a background in Photoshop, and this is one of the absolute easiest. See how a quick download and some simple techniques can help you cut out images with ease.

First of all, download the Action Script mentioned above and load the action. If you are new to actions, refer to this easy tutorial.

Now, let's get to the real shit.

For Images With Light Backgrounds
1) To remove light colored backgrounds navigate to Image > Mode and select CMYK Color. There are two actions, and they only work in a specific color mode.
2) Select CMYK > Trans Layer and it will remove light colored information from your image, even if you have multiple layers, so don’t worry about flattening your image.
3) Press “Play selection” in the Actions Panel to start the action, and stand back! It’s seriously that easy.

For Images With Dark Backgrounds
Exactly same as the above method, except you have to use RGB color correction for this one and play the RGB action.

Shadows are cut out as well, which would have been an absolute nightmare to work around with methods using the paint bucket, eraser, or pen tool. Shadows blend to transparency, rather than to gray, the way they should. Even if you don’t like the results of the other parts of the action, cutting out the shadows this way can be helpful, even to the most seasoned Photoshop user.

If you are a fan of line arts, it's time you start making your own and that too VERY easily and fast!

That's all folks! Hope I was able to teach you something new today and help you do better. Have a nice day.

Im a total noob when it comes to graphics and image manipulation. How the hell does the action script work? This is really cool!
edit

So I guess an action script is basically a macro that is pre-setup?

Yes, indeed.

It is pretty simple to use, just go to windows > enable actions panel and click top right little button, then load actions and choose to atn file. Then you simply click the play button and it works :)
For a better tutorial on Action Scripts, I suggest you Google it.

Anyone try this out yet? I'm not at my laptop. I'm curious how well it works and how precise it gets.

I'll give it a go later though, if one else has.
