Do fake phones have any use? - Arga - Mar 5, 2016

A friend of mine asked whether I was able to change the OS or make use of a phone he bought which turned out to be fake. I don't really know what to say about it but it's a Lenovo S660P (It's Chinese apparently).

How is the phone fake? As far as I'm concerned it has low end specs but it's still a smartphone.

I understand what you're saying there.

So far I haven't been able to find any ROMS or Kernels that will work on this phone.

If it's fake don't bother changing the OS.It will be a useless piece of metal anyway.

It really depends on what OS is on the phone already.
Upgrading from an old Android to the newest version is a piece of cake.

The current OS is Kitkat 4.4.3

If you could show me how or direct me to a place where it would show me that would be much appreciated.

It doesn't have much, if any, developer support. Plus, the cheap skin is a deterrent - it's pretty much useless.

lmao that thread is 2 years old

I figured it'd be useless. If I could've at least update the android version that'd be nice.

KK is actually surprisingly nice. If I could get back onto that OS version with my newer phones then I'd definitely hop on that.

I don't have any knowledge around android phones and switching ROMS/Kernels etc, I've rooted before and didn't see much rather than more options.
I have tried looking around about how but none of them are usually clear and require to download some pretty shady stuff. on XDADev for some reason I'm never able to find what I'm looking for.

If anyone can point to me how I would be able to up the KK version on this that would be much appreciated. 🤝

The "update" on this phone isn't doing jack shit, is there another approach to update the current KitKat version on this phone?
