[NoobQuestion] Formatting Hard Drives - xergxilla - Mar 19, 2016 Warning: A pile of text ahead; Maybe some typos. Japanese Keyboard, even though I am not a Japanese. So recently, my laptop had a serious error regarding Hardware Drivers. It was unable to load some of them, and I do not know the reason why. Here's a part from the NTBTLOG file (Created though 'Boot Logging' in Windows 8): Quote:BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED @kdnic.inf,%kdnic.devicedesc%;Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter I managed to get it fixed by installing Windows 7, though I accidentally placed it onto another Hard Drive. Stupid me. So because of that miserable mistake, I ended up having Windows 7 and 8 within my laptop. As I was starting up Windows 7, I was like, trying to put hair on a damn bald head. All drivers need to be reinstalled, in order for me to get the laptop function normally. Some drivers were reinstalled though searching for in within the Partition in which Win8 was installed. After that, I removed Win8 through the Boot Management thingy, though the system files were still in that same disk where Win8 was installed. I'd like to discard those files by formatting it, but I am not quite sure of this move I'll be making. If you're lost and dunno what and which Hard Drives I was talking about:
Do you think it is safe for me to format my Hard Drive "D:"? Will there be some effects if I do such a thing? Will the drivers I installed (onto Win7) from that Hard Drive still function well? Thanks for reading. And hopefully I get an immediate response from you guys. Peace. * - Freebooter - Mar 21, 2016 Not sure why you want to delete D: as it contains Windows 7 don't you want to keep Windows 7? For you to delete any one of the partition that has Windows OS install in you need to first boot your computer to a Windows OS that you wont delete the partition for then type sysdm.cpl into Start Menu or Run box. From System Properties click Advanced and click "Settings" button at the Startup and Recovery section. Select the default operating system your computer boots to which is the operating system you have booted your computer with so if you want to delete Windows 7 select Windows 8. Type Msconfig into Start Menu or Run box. From System Configuration click "Boot" tab, select the operating system entry that you want to delete and click Delete button. Apply the changes. Open Disk Management by typing Diskmgmt.msc now you can delete the partition of the operating system install at make sure to backup file in that partition you will delete. |
