Shaving with a safety razor - iNk. - Mar 21, 2016

I must be fucking retarded but I've seriously tried to shave with a safety razor twice and I don't seem to be getting the close shave everyone talks about.. What the fuck am I doing wrong?

I shower with hot ass water and put on a decent amount of shaving cream. Shave and it barely grabs any god damn hair.

I'm using this handle

Merkur Long Handled Safety Razor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NL0T1G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_p0f8wb8JJGWRE

With these blades

Personna Double Edge Razor Blades, 100 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0077LAJT2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_.0f8wbVEXFEX3

The problem may be in razor blades, for example 100 of these cost almost the same i pay for Gillette ones and i get 5 of these.
Try purchasing more quallity ones, also the problem may be in angle.. test different angles.

That is true. Are you using Gillette cartridges? I'm talking blades as they're different and cheaper that's why I took the safety razor router but it could be the angle...

Shit is very difficult I must say

Is a safety razor supposed to give you a good shave? I always thought they were shit

the angle is relevant and those are more for daily shavers , try to pretrim or use a different razor now for once and then proceed to shave daily or more often depending on your growth ..

Why that if I may ask?
For what I know those are made to be used by someone-else on you like a trainee barber for exmple.[That's what I0ve herd don't know if it's true.]
Just go for gillete blades they're pretty good.
If you cut yourself they have that special one that bends to follow your neck curves and bumbs...

Everyone talks about how they shave so much closer than a regular razor and you get no ingrown hairs.. I have no luck so far though

I've been using one for a few years. I got the cleanest shave going with feather blades, and if I want a closer shave, I'll shave against the grain after a pass going with it.

Yeah wtf I just noticed I'm not getting a clean shave. I shave once a week and after I shave it looks like it's growing back already. I think I have your problem.
