Compiled Language? - CorrosiveBlueberry - Mar 22, 2016

So, i've pretty much no programming experience at all; my only purpose of learning any programming is to know it for the future relating to miscellaneous computer jobs, as i'm currently enrolled in college for Computer Networking, although networking doesn't interest me.

In the past i'd tried to learn a bunch of languages randomly and in most cases had no luck at all. But as of lately; i've been getting a pretty decent hang on bash because i've been pretty heavy into linux the past 10-12 weeks, I really like how simple it is to me, implementing all of the built-in commands, as well as non-built in commands, i also like some of the complexities of understanding the more finer details that i've noticed so far.

Although i realize that people dislike it because it's lack of portability, as even though shell scripts are on all unix, and linux distros the syntax may differ slightly because of POSIX standards. After reading some things, i realized i'd like to try a compiled language, C had been intrestesting me alot because it relates to linux alot, but honestly i've looked at various books relating to C, and man pages, and i don't think its a good fit for me yet, bash was a lot simpler, it didn't require including libraries, the most equivalent would probably be sourcing another command, or anything like that; i don't understand how you would know to find the exact library for each command?

Is there a compiled language you think that may be a decent fit for me, someone who enjoys working with linux, i also like good documentation.

C/C++ should be the correct language for you

Look into object Pascal, I think that's more of what your looking for.

So why should it be more of what he's looking for?

He want's a language that's compiled, runs on Linux, and is easier than C.
Object Pascal:
Easy Orderly Syntax ✓
Compiles into native code ✓
Runs on Linux, Windows, and others. ✓
@Teh Remix Seems to match all his needs.

Learning C/C++ might be good for your situation.
